Springtime in the Rockies
Wow, I read my last entry and did not realize it has been two weeks since I last wrote. I hope that everyone had a nice Easter. We went to services on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and then to the late service in the chapel on Easter as I had Altar Guild clean up after that service. We came home and then went out to eat. It rained most of the day. Beginning of last week was pretty nice and then on Thursday it rained most of the day and then turned to snow in the late afternoon and evening and then kept snowing until sometime Saturday evening. Some guy had told Dennis on about Wednesday that they were predicting around 3 feet for the snowstorm that was coming and we didn't think it would be that much, but it was or close to it. Power went out for a couple of hours on Friday afternoon and then came back on. Then around 5:30 or so it went out again and stayed out until Sunday afternoon. ... (more)
Winter in Spring
Well, for about the last week and a half we have been having spring snows. As one weather forecaster put it, "we are now having the winter we never had". February and most of March were very mild. Then, a week ago last Thursday, we had a big storm. We got 12 or 13 inches, but some areas got more. Dennis was supposed to fly out to a NCRS board meeting but his flight was canceled twice and then on Friday morning he was able to get out. He didn't miss any of the meeting. Then last Monday and Wednesday we had a couple more snows, although not as much. We definitely needed the moisture. Saturday we got some more. The roads were really slick going to church yesterday. It was the first I had been to church in several weeks. Finally seems like I am getting over this thing, but still not feeling quite like normal yet. Need to get strength and energy back. Still cough some but that seems to be getting better, too. ... (more)
On the Mend
Finally starting to feel better. When my appetite started coming back last week that was the first sign, I think. Still very tired as I have not slept much at all in the last two weeks. I never knew you could go without sleep so long. The nights are the worst because that is when the cough is the worst as well as first part of the morning. But I think I did actually sleep a little during the night last night. Will try to update with better stuff later.
Been Sick
Been under the weather for almost a week. No time at computer or anything else. Cough is awful. Went to dr. on Wed and got some stuff so maybe it will be clearing up
Beautiful Weather
Today is Ash Wednesday already and February is almost gone. We have been having really nice weather for the last few days, but still very dry. They were saying on the radio a couple of days ago that in Denver there have been 15 days of above 60 degree weather already this year. That means in the 50's at our altitude. Behind on moisture which is always a concern, but in a normal year, we still have the snowiest months ahead. Just hope we don't get it all in one humongous snowfall like a few years ago. But I guess we'll take it as we get it.
Not too much going on here. I have been trying to get some painting done inside the house. We had most of it done about a year and a half ago and I was going to do the extra bedrooms and closets (that don't have high ceilings) that we did not have the painter do. Did the guest bedroom and a bathroom last summer and then didn't do any more. ... (more)
Catching Up---Again
Wow, it's been a while since I've updated, so now I have to try and remember what we've done. We were invited to a Super Bowl party but the couple got sick and canceled, so we just watched at home. That was fine, too. Last Saturday there was a ministry event at church. There were workshops on various topics. It was in the morning and then I was scheduled to set up for Sunday communion, so did that early afternoon. Normally we set up on Saturday mornings. This past Wednesday we went to the Home & Garden Show in downtown Denver at the convention center. That's about the only thing we go down there for. They always have fancy gardens complete with waterfalls set up and all kinds of blooming trees, flowers, etc. Also have booths for vendors to display their wares, like windows, etc. And tons of hot tubs. I enjoy just seeing all the flowers, shrubs, etc., even though much of it would not grow well where we live. ... (more)
