I Guess It's Winter
After having really nice weather for most of November, we got enough snow Friday night that we had to clear the driveway and deck. I think it was around three inches. Today it was snowing again on the way to church and on the way home. Roads were a little bit slick although they had sanded, but the slushy stuff sort of pulled at the wheels. Stayed in all day once we got home.
I don't think we did much of anything last week, or at least I can't remember it, so it must not have been too exciting. Seems like I went to the grocery store every other day for something I still needed for Thanksgiving. We had a beautiful service at church again on Thanksgiving. They always close it with recognition for those who have served or are serving in the military as well as policemen, firemen, etc. Closed with God Bless America. Beautiful Today - Brrrr Tomorrow
We've been having amazingly warm weather. I've been opening the windows the last few days during the sunny time of the day to let in some fresh air. Yesterday when I went into town, it was at least 75 degrees. A cold front is supposed to come through tonight and/or tomorrow dropping temperatures significantly. It has been dry also, so we do need some moisture, but I don't know if much of that is in the forecast. Not looking forward to driving in the "white stuff". I think everybody forgets how to drive when the first big snow comes.We had a fairly busy weekend. Friday night we went to a musical at our church. Our senior pastor wrote it. It is titled Friends and Enemies and is a modern day version of the Good Samaritan. It was really good. They gave four performances over the weekend. He wrote another one a few years back which was a "prodigal son" story set in the 1950's, with that type of music. ... (more)
Not Much New
Well, nothing of much significance happened last week. Dennis's cold seems to be getting better but last week he did have to go to the doctor because he had gotten an ear infection as a result of the cold. Got several medicines and it seems to be helping. The weather has turned colder, but no snow so far. We heard that the foothills were to get snow today, so Dennis put the snow tires on my car yesterday, but it did not materialize. I think the moisture went south of us and I'm not sure it was really cold enough to snow anyway. Saturday I went to a craft show up in Conifer but did not buy anything. Nothing I really wanted and I am trying to keep expenditures to a minimum. Sunday we went to late church as I had an Altar Guild meeting after the late service. It has been another week of beautiful weather. Short sleeves when I went down the hill and some parts of the day even up at our house. It has really spoiled us, I think. When the cold and white stuff does come, it will probably catch us off guard. Not really too much going on this week, just the regular stuff. Not much remains to be done so far as outside work. I don't cut back my perennials much as I like to leave the top part for winter protection. Had a couple of deer inside the fence one morning this week. They nibbled down a couple of my perennials, but it won't hurt them. I use a spray on the plants called Deer Off during the growing season which seems to help (when I remember to spray it on).
On Wednesday I went down to visit a friend who got the new Yorkie puppy. Had been a couple of weeks since I last saw the puppy and she had grown quite a bit but is still pretty small. ... (more)
