Another Attempt To Get it Right
I don't know what happened yesterday, as I had quite a bit written. I hit the Preview and then when I tried to get back to it I lost all of it. At that point I was too tired to write again.Last week we had a retirement part to go to on Wednesday for a guy that used to be in our Corvette club. He was retiring from the Aurora Police Department after 35 years. went to his precinct first and then there was food and drinks at a nearby bar & grill.
Thursday night we had our "in home" Bible study. A couple of times during each year's sessions we do this and instead of meeting at church, all the small groups meet in someone's home and share a meal. This week it will be back at church, as usual.
Saturday morning I had Altar Guild set-up and then in the afternoon baked a couple of pies--one to take to church on Sunday and one for us--both pumpkin. Sure made the house smell good. All we needed was a turkey cooking, too. Saturday night we went out for our anniversary; we went to a new restaurant up in Conifer.
Sunday was our church picnic. It was after the late services. It was a pig roast. Well, actually it was pork, already pulled. It was catered, but everyone brought pies for dessert. They had one of those big blown up gym things for the kids and a dunk tank. All the pastors as well the vicar and a couple of others took their turns to be in the tank--and they got dunked quite a bit. Mostly it was the kids lined up to do it. Possible rain had been predicted, but the weather really held out and it was beautiful--probably lower 70's. After we came home I washed a few of the windows that I can reach from the deck and we put away some of the deck furniture and the big sun umbrellas. We'll leave the metal chairs out for a little longer so we can still sit out there if the afternoons are warm enough and maybe enjoy a beer, which we did yesterday. We haven't had a frost yet but I think it is probably not far off. I am watching my tomatoes so I can get them off and the ones that are in pots on the deck, well, I may bring in the whole pot, as there are quite a few green ones. They are small, so I don't think I can use them for fried green tomatoes. That's it for now.

Sounds like you had a busy week. You feel like you want to get these things done while the weather is nice. I remembered which year it was because I started at Soya 2 days after you got married. We took out all of our plants from the garden this weekend as they were not doing good and I didn’t think we would get anymore off of it. Sure did hate to do that.

Was this number 40? I think it was ‘cause I think you got married the same year I started at Central Soya.

No, it was 39. We got married in 1969.

Was wondering how many it had been. Wasn’t the reception down on the end of maples road. Or was it somewhere else.

Yes,that’s where it was, on that dead end part. Mom and I drove back that way a few years ago and it was not there any more and nothing to indicate that it had ever been there. I think there were some houses back there.
