Beautiful Today - Brrrr Tomorrow
We've been having amazingly warm weather. I've been opening the windows the last few days during the sunny time of the day to let in some fresh air. Yesterday when I went into town, it was at least 75 degrees. A cold front is supposed to come through tonight and/or tomorrow dropping temperatures significantly. It has been dry also, so we do need some moisture, but I don't know if much of that is in the forecast. Not looking forward to driving in the "white stuff". I think everybody forgets how to drive when the first big snow comes. We had a fairly busy weekend. Friday night we went to a musical at our church. Our senior pastor wrote it. It is titled Friends and Enemies and is a modern day version of the Good Samaritan. It was really good. They gave four performances over the weekend. He wrote another one a few years back which was a "prodigal son" story set in the 1950's, with that type of music. All the cast were church people, and they did a great job. On Saturday we went to a chili cook-off at lunchtime. This was with one of the Corvette clubs - yes, we belong to two - one is strictly a social club and then there is the restorer's club that we have belonged to for many years. This one was with the social club. They also had crafts that were made by the various members that we could buy. I did not take chili but took a dessert. They had 19 different pots of chili- mostly red chili, only two green chili, and several pots of white bean chili. On Sunday we stopped to see some friends after church (the ones that have the new Yorkie puppy). She (the puppy) is so squirmy and just full of licks. In the evening we went for Mexican food with another couple in the neighborhood to a little place about 5 minutes away. We're trying to eat at home more which means I need to be more organized as far as food preparation and planning so that at 4:00 in the afternoon I'm not trying to figure out what to fix. But we still like to go out some, especially for a type of food that I don't normally fix at home.
Today I'm trying to get a little house cleaning done. Of course I never get it all done in one day. It's too much so I usually try to do one level at a time. Dennis cleaned the basement level the other night. Nothing big planned for the weekend unless something comes up. Always plenty to do around here. We've invited another couple over for Thanksgiving, so I'll need to save the main level cleaning until a couple of days beforehand. That's it from our little spot in Colorado.

Thought maybe you would have some snow by now. We still like to eat out. We bought an entertainment book so that helps some. Buy one get one free. There is not as many in it as years back. Later Ron

Sounds like you had a lot going on over the weekend. Did you taste all of the chilis. That is a lot better than 90. We eat out a lot more than we should. I forget a lot of times to take meat out of the freezer or when I get home from work I just don’t feel like fixing something. When there is only two, it is sometimes a lot easier to just go out.

I did not taste all the chilis. They were judged by the officers of the club, I think, then everybody else just got in line and ate. I had one bowl of red chili and one bowl of green, and then I was full. Yes, normally by now we would have had at least one substantial snowfall. But because we get sunshine almost every day, it never stays long. Does make things sloppy at first, though. The windshield on my car is pitted after just one full winter because of the stuff they use on the roads. We got the car in March 2007, but it was never really driven in the snow that year. So this all came from last year.

At our chili cookoff, they only give you a small amount – like in a little dixie cup or smaller so you don’t get as full and can taste more. I couldn’t have eaten much either if they had given me a full bowl.

They didn’t give us the amount, we just went through the line like a potluck, only it was potluck chili, with all the pots being judged first just for fun. Well, the winner in each category did win a little prize. This was our club and was a private event, not2c a big chili cook-off like they have some places. If it was a public event I can see where they would just give you a small portion.

I like chilli but if it has onions in it then it really gives me acid stomach so I really have to be careful.
