Cold Outside... and inside
After a week of really unseasonably warm weather, the cold has returned. Friday was still nice but it started changing on Saturday. On Sunday it was cold and sort of foggy and the fog froze to the trees and bushes. Looked pretty. Yesterday was really cold, and then found that our heat was not working. I'm not sure when it went out, may have even been on Sunday. I was sitting here Monday morning and it really seemed extra cold in here (no sunshine either). Checked the thermostats and noticed that it was not as warm as what it was set at. Checked to see if heat was coming out (hot water heat units)---nothing. Dennis had gone to a consulting job yesterday so he couldn't check it until evening. Well, he couldn't get it started so we spent the night without heat because it was too late to call someone. I had started a fire in the fireplace yesterday but we did not keep it going during the night. just used extra covers. It was 45 degrees in our living room this morning. He got hold of a guy this morning and apparently there is some part that needs replacing but the guy was able to tell Dennis how to by-pass it or get the unit working again. It was so cold in the house you couldn't do much of anything, especially at the computer, because my hands were too cold. Did do some vacuuming because at least then I was moving around. It is starting to feel comfortable in here now, plus the sun is out so that helps things also. I think the guy is coming tomorrow to replace the part. But at least we have heat again. I think it was below zero outside last night. Sounds like the cold is not to last too long as it is supposed to warm up considerably by the end of the week. Can't think of much else since I last updated. Later, two comments:
know how it is. Not having heat is no fun. A least we had a fireplace and kept it above 60. I stayed in the living room on the couch and kept it going all night. About the second night I didn’t hear the timer I had set and it almost went out. The cold woke me up. Glad you could bypass it I don’t know if we can do that or not Coourse you have to have electric. I started today putting the transfer switch in for the generator. Later

Does not sound like fun. Glad you were able to get the heat back on.
